Thank you for your interest in booking a session with me!  Planning a portrait session can seem overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be!  My goal is to make everything as easy as possible for you – so I’ve gathered answers to some of the most frequently asked questions, to help you better understand what happens during a session and what you can expect.  If you don't see your question answered below, please don't hesitate to email me.  I'd be happy to answer any question you have.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE?
My photography style is romantic, genuine and candid.  I will gently guide you through your portrait session, but prefer to photograph the scene as it happens naturally.  I love unscripted, and swoon over vintage colors and soft, golden sunlight.  I love creating beautiful portraits; like those in-between moments when you think that nobody else is watching - because those moments are genuine and worth remembering.

OK I'VE BOOKED, NOW WHAT?

Once your session is booked we'll discuss or finalize location, clothing choices, and your overall expectations for your final images.  So if you have something specific in mind, please tell me during our consultation so that I can be sure to come prepared.

ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL FEES?

The most common additional fees are related to travel expenses and entrance fees associated with location.  All travel/toll/entrance fees must be paid by client, prior to the start of portrait session.  There will be an additional charge for locations more than 20 miles outside of 94541.

WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP MY PORTRAIT SESSION GO MORE SMOOTHLY?

The best thing you can do is simply, relax - the hardest part is over (deciding to have photographs taken).  Try to bring nothing but an open mind and minimal stress to your session, and do your best to not be so critical of yourself.  Remember that you're creating memories and capturing moments - these things are priceless.  You are more than welcome to bring small snacks and bottled water.

WHAT IN THE HECK SHOULD I WEAR?

The most important thing is that you feel comfortable, so don't feel obligated to switch up your style or wear something different than usual just for your session. Portraits are about capturing who you are.  Coordinating colors is great, but try to avoid anything with large logos, being too matchy or trendy.  Try picking a few colors that compliment/contrast with each other and maybe incorporate patterns or textures.  If you're feeling lost and need some examples, feel free to check out my "Clothing Inspiration" Pinterest board for some styling examples.

WHERE SHOULD MY PORTRAIT SESSION TAKE PLACE?

I have a handful of favorite locations that I can suggest and a few that I'd love to check out!  If you already have a place in mind or have an idea of the session look you're going for, let's chat, so we can make it happen!

WHAT IF MY CHILDREN DON'T WANT TO COOPERATE?

Little ones are unpredictable and that's ok!  As a mom, I totally understand what a bummer it can be to get all dolled up for pictures, only to have the photos come back awkward looking because your child just wasn’t having it!  In the end, don't worry too much about it.  I say, chalk it up to having a good story to share with them when they're older, about how they wanted absolutely nothing to do with the shoot, and you have proof, lol

MY PARTNER ISN'T INTERESTED IN HAVING PICTURES TAKEN.  WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Most importantly, don't stress and don't try to force anyone to participate if they choose not to.  I tell clients to explain to your significant other why this is important to you, that is an hour of their time, and one day your kids will be happy they were in the photos with them.  I also encourage an adult beverage before hand if they’re really not into it, or just come alone with your kids!  Do not miss a chance to be in a photo with your kids.  You will treasure those mementos (as will your kids) in a few years as you look back on how small they were.

HOW MANY IMAGES WILL BE IN MY GALLERY?

Rather than trying to provide a set number of images, I'd prefer to focus on providing high quality photographs that tell your story.  Although I will take several shots during your session, only the absolute best are selected for your gallery.  On average, a typical portrait session will yield between 30-50 images.

WHEN WILL I GET TO SEE MY PICTURES?

After your session, your images will be uploaded and the editing process will begin.   During the editing process, I will post a few sneak peeks on Facebook and Instagram.  You're more than welcome to share these on your social media as well!  The editing process takes approximately 2 weeks to complete.  Once your final images are ready for viewing, I will notify you and we will schedule an appointment where you can make your order selections.

WHAT IS A PROOF GALLERY?

A proof gallery is where all of your final images are placed, in order for you to view them.  It is for viewing purposes only and all images have a watermark.

DO I GET TO KEEP ALL THE IMAGES IN MY PROOF GALLERY?

You will be able to download and/or print however many images are included in your package.  If you'd like all of the images from your proof gallery, they are available for individual purchase.

DO YOU OFFER OTHER PRINT PRODUCTS OR ALBUMS?

I am pleased to offer a wide variety of high quality, professionally crafted prints, canvas wraps, acrylic or metal prints and albums.  Most packages include prints, and there is no pressure to buy additional prints or products, however if you choose to, each of these items are crafted from the highest quality materials in various sizes, perfect for decorating walls in your house, your desk or sharing with family and will provide years of enjoyment.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL/RESCHEDULE MY SESSION?

No worries!  I totally get that life happens.  Should illness or other unforeseen circumstance occur, please contact me as soon as possible so we can work together to set a new date & time. that works for both you and me.  All fees paid are non-refundable.

WEDDING FAQ's

DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH WEDDINGS?

While it's not my focus, I do take a limited number of weddings per year based on availability.

DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH DESTINATION WEDDINGS?

Yes, of course! These are some of my favorite weddings since I get to change up the scenery a little bit, and stretch my creative wings.

WHAT KIND OF CAMERA/EQUIPMENT DO YOU USE?

I use one/two full-frame digital Canon cameras with a decent variety of lenses.

WILL THERE BE A SECOND PHOTOGRAPHER AT MY WEDDING?
Yes indeed!  Every wedding collection includes a second photographer to make sure we don't miss a moment.

DO I HAVE TO ORDER PRINTS THROUGH YOU?
You aren't obligated, but I strongly recommend ordering through me, to make sure your photographs will be printed on quality paper. Plus, I can fix anything that goes wrong (although it's rare!) during the printing process.
