As mentioned in an earlier post, Kumu Hula Portrait Session this is the halau portrait session that followed. If you live near or visit San Francisco, you will become familiar with the bipolar weather lol. It can be sunny one day and foggy/misty the very next. Such is the case, when the halau photoshoot took place. Kumu Pono and I had decided on a later afternoon shoot, in hopes of capturing that beautiful warm glow before sunset. San Francisco had other plans!
Being that it was summertime, I was anticipating warm(ish) weather and fully expecting that I would get wet shooting on the beach, so I had decided to wear shorts for easy mobility. When we arrived however, the sky was grey, the wind was cold (and fierce) and the fog was most definitely rolling in. All the girls (and moms) huddled in the parking lot, which was thankfully not full due to the gloomy weather. Everyone gathered their pa’u and kupe’e and headed down toward the beach. My only concern was not being able to see the bridge in the background of the pictures – so naturally that’s exactly what happened lol. But you make due with your circumstances and fortunately for me, the fog provided a beautifully dramatic backdrop.
The girls were such good sports, because they were cold too, but they kept on dancing :) We had so much fun and they all looked beautiful. Below are a just few of my favorites (there were too many good ones to choose from),
