Our initial portrait session was planned for the Marin Headlands. Sadly we were unprepared for the bulk of traffic and people we’d encounter on a warm Saturday evening we attempted to navigate the windy roads and have a romantic photoshoot. Just trying to get to the city was a nightmare. My own experience regarding the Headlands, was limited to only 2x and both times were during the wee hours of the morning, so naturally there wasn’t a lot of traffic besides other photographers.
Well on this particular day, it took me a little over 3 hours [from the East Bay] to reach the Headlands and it took Sheri and Brandon about the same time. We had timed our session to coincide with the warm glow that comes in the hour before the sunsets…but sadly due to traffic we missed that time, but a little over 30 minutes. So we scrambled to get any shots we could before the shadow that lay upon them was inescapable, but it was soon obvious that we weren’t going to get anything worth printing, on this trip. So we regrouped and decided to meet the next morning at another park that was closer to our side of the bay.
Sheri and Brandon arrived shortly after me and as we walked from the parking lot to the park entrance, we chatted about the previous day’s adventure. We immediately got to work and I started snapping away. We had fun and laughed the whole time. When it was all said and done, we walked away with some pretty great photos.
