“A baby is God’s way of saying the world should go on.”
My friend and trusted piercer, “Ybarra” had a beautiful baby girl – YAY!! I’ve known Mike for a few years now and when we first met, we quickly became friends. So when he and his girlfriend came a callin’, I was more than happy to photograph this little beauty. Madison was 5 days old, when we had her portrait session. The timing was perfect, because the best time to photograph newborns is within 2wks of birth. They don’t do anything but sleep and they are amazingly pliable and can be put into pretty much any position lol – and they just keep sleeping. It’s perfect :)
I showed up at their house, brought in all of my equipment and props. (I was super excited to test out my new “bird nest” prop.) While they were tending to the baby and getting her undressed, I was setting up my backdrop and plugging in my little baby warmer [a.k.a. “desk heater”]. She was so tiny and delicate, I could hardly stop smiling every time I looked at her perfect little features. She was placed in my arms and I was left to create magic :) I had draped a cloth backdrop over a beanbag, and gently laid her on it. I decided to go with a beanbag, because that type of material would easily conform to her body with the least amount of disruption to her. She slept right through me, putting a pig beanie on her head (lol), nestling her inside of a bird nest, and being placed in her daddy’s arms.
I love newborn portrait sessions because it’s amazing to be able to photograph every tiny feature, all the cute peach fuzz, the adorable petite little nose and the perfect fingers and toes. Here are a few of my favorite portraits,
